Clinical Supervision
Clinical Supervision Services
We provide board-approved clinical supervision for Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associates (LCMHCAs) working toward full licensure in North Carolina. Whether you're just beginning your 3,000-hour supervised practice period or you're looking for a flexible, sustainable way to complete your 100 required supervision hours, We offer two tracks designed to fit your schedule, budget, and licensure timeline.
All supervision is provided in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (NCBLCMHC) requirements, including the rule that at least 75 of your 100 required supervision hours must be individual (or dyad/triadic) supervision, with no more than 25 hours completed in a group format.
Standard Track
Individual Supervision - $100 per session
Weekly individual supervision sessions provide focused, one-on-one clinical support tailored to your caseload, developmental stage, and professional goals. This track is ideal if you prefer consistent, dedicated time each week to process cases, build clinical skills, and work through your individual supervision hours at a steady pace.
- Format: In-office or virtual (your choice)
- Frequency: Weekly
- Counts toward: Individual supervision hours (the 75-hour minimum required by the NCBLCMHC)
Hybrid Track
$100 per individual session | $75 per group session
The Hybrid Track combines individual and group supervision on an alternating weekly basis, giving you a supervision touchpoint every week while introducing the added clinical value of peer consultation, often at a lower overall cost than weekly individual sessions alone.
This track is structured in two phases to keep you aligned with NCBLCMHC hour requirements throughout your supervised practice period.
Phase 1: Alternating Weekly
Week 1: Individual session
Week 2: Group session
- (pattern continues, alternating weekly)
During Phase 1, you'll build group supervision hours toward the 25-hour maximum allowed by the Board while simultaneously beginning to accrue your required individual hours. Group sessions are held virtually using a secure, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing platform, and provide the opportunity to consult on cases, gain multiple clinical perspectives, and learn alongside fellow associates. (approx. first 6 months)
Phase 2: Individual Supervision
Remainder of your supervised practice period
Once your group hours approach the Board's 25-hour cap, we transition to weekly individual sessions for the remainder of your time in supervision. This ensures you complete the required 75+ individual hours while continuing to receive consistent, weekly clinical support through the remainder of your path to licensure.
Typical timeline: Most associates complete their full 100-hour supervision requirement in approximately 20-21 months on the Hybrid Track, comfortably within the 2.5 years most associates need to reach their 3,000 hours of supervised practice. (There are no time limits placed on how long you have to complete your requirements for full licensure).
Which Track Is Right for You?
- Choose Standard if you prefer the consistency and privacy of one-on-one supervision throughout your entire supervised practice period.
- Choose Hybrid if you're interested in peer consultation and case discussion in addition to individual support, and want a supervision plan that's cost-conscious without compromising on weekly contact.
Both tracks are structured to keep you compliant with NCBLCMHC supervision requirements from day one through your final hour.
If you have questions about which track fits your situation, or you're not sure how your current hours factor into a transition between tracks, reach out and we can map it out together.
A Board-approved supervision contract is required before counseling services may begin, and must remain active for the duration of your associate licensure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I switch between tracks once I've started?
Yes. Some associates start on the Standard Track and later add group sessions, or vice versa. If you switch, we'll review your accumulated individual and group hours together to make sure the remainder of your supervision plan keeps you within the Board's 75/25 individual-to-group requirement.
What if I need to miss a scheduled group or individual session?
Reach out as soon as possible so we can discuss rescheduling. Because Phase 1 of the Hybrid Track relies on a consistent alternating pattern, missed sessions may shift your projected timeline slightly, but they won't affect your compliance as long as your total hours are tracked accurately
Is group supervision confidential?
Yes. All group participants agree to a confidentiality agreement at the start of group supervision, in addition to standard clinical confidentiality standards. You'll review and sign this before your first group session.
I already have supervision hours with another supervisor. Can those count toward my plan with you?
We'll transition you to individual-only sessions as soon as you approach the cap, regardless of exactly where you are in the 6-month estimate. The timeline in the Hybrid Track description is a typical estimate, not a fixed schedule — your actual hours are tracked individually.
What happens if I reach the 25-hour group cap before finishing Phase 1?
Hours completed under a Board-approved contract with a prior qualified supervisor generally carry forward. Bring your hour logs to our first meeting and we'll map out exactly how many individual and group hours you have remaining under your new contract with me.
How many associates are typically in a group session?
Groups are kept small — generally 3-8 associates, to ensure everyone has meaningful time to present cases and receive feedback
